Firstly, it was mentioned that a well known and respected West Suffolk Councillor, Robert Everrit, had passed.
Devolution and LGR
- Discussed the Government white paper and the 50 year “ opportunity”.
- It was generally agreed that the main benefit of LGR would be to keep things local to benefit residents.
- It was also asked if there would be frequent Boundary reviews and would there be a Liaison so as to give each Town/Parish Council a single point of contact.
- It was also commented that Town/Parish Councils should take on a bigger role to ensure things get done within the community and then, on the flip side, that Councils are not obligated to take on services that are currently delivered by West Suffolk.
Transport (buses)
- Local transport plan is now adopted and can be viewed by searching “ Suffolk Local Transport Plan 2025-2040.
- Funds available, 2.8m for services and 5.2m capital funding.
- Discussions then ensued about poor services, new routes and compliments about cancelled services being resurrected.
- Councillors were directed to “ bus service improvement plan – Suffolk on Board” if they had any issues that required funds.
The next meeting is 21/10/25, a venue has not yet been chosen..
